Three kinds of “can it do X”
They get asked in the same sentence and they have completely different answers, which is why demos go wrong.
| Kind | What it means | How to test it |
|---|---|---|
| Configuration | A setting exists. Someone ticks it. | Ask them to do it in front of you, now. |
| Workaround | Not designed for it, but there is a way through. | Ask who does the extra steps daily — usually your counter, forever. |
| Modification | Someone writes code. | Ask for the quote and the timescale before you buy, not after. |
A vendor saying “yes we can do that” may mean any of the three. The follow-up question is always the same: show me, or quote me.
Bring your three worst cases to the demo
Not a feature list — three real situations from your own shop, written down beforehand so you cannot be talked past them. Most salons' three look something like:
- The commission arrangement that changes once a therapist passes a monthly target.
- The client with a half-used package from two years ago and a disputed balance.
- The booking that has to be split between two therapists on one bill.
Every system in this market does appointments, packages, stock and commission. The brochures are nearly identical. The difference only shows up at the edges — which is exactly where your shop lives, and exactly what a standard demo is designed to avoid.
Where we are honestly not the answer
A single-chair studio that wants a free app and no setup should not buy this. Neither should a business that needs a system to run unchanged and unsupported for years — our maintenance is required from year two and the system stops without it, which we set out on what you actually own. We would rather lose the sale than have that conversation in year three.
What comes as standard
Nine modules, with no tier where the useful ones are held back:
- Cashiering — the till itself: services, products, packages, deposits, split payments, receipts.
- Customer Data Analytics — each client’s history, outstanding amount and package balance, plus top-sales reports by customer, product, service and package.
- Stock Inventory — retail stock, counted per branch.
- Appointment Manager — the calendar your counter actually lives in.
- Live Sales Tracker — today's takings while the day is still running.
- Loyalty Program — credit balances, packages and sessions left.
- Promotions & Birthday — SMS that goes out on its own.
- Staff Commission & Payroll — commission worked out from what was actually rung up.
Questions we get asked
Can commission rules be set to how we pay?
The Staff Commission & Payroll module covers basic salary, commission, hands-on fees and bonus, with sales target schemes — worked out from what was actually rung up at the till. Bring your real scheme to the demo and have it set up in front of you rather than described.
We have an unusual package arrangement. Will it work?
Probably, and the way to find out is not to ask. Write your three most awkward real cases on a sheet of paper and make the vendor do them live. If a system handles your three worst cases it will handle the ordinary ones.
Can we get a report that is not on the standard list?
Custom reports and modifications are something we do — that is what the Customization & Modifications service is for. Ask for a quote on the specific report before you buy, so you know whether it is an afternoon or a project.
What if the answer is genuinely no?
Then you want to hear it during the demo. A vendor who says “no, but here is how people usually handle that” is more useful than one who says yes to everything and discovers the problem during your installation.
Does it work for more than one outlet?
Yes — branches sync live, so a client who normally goes to one outlet can be served at the other with their history, credit balance and package intact. Pricing is per branch, and so is maintenance.
