Where each one is genuinely the right answer
A monthly subscription platform
If you want the newest thing every quarter, you run a single outlet, and you would rather a small predictable monthly cost than a capital outlay, this is a sensible choice. It is also the right answer if you might close or sell within two years — you will never reach the crossover point.
An overseas cloud booking app
If your business is mostly online bookings and you do not have local compliance to worry about, the big international products are good at what they do. Check how they handle GST when you cross the registration threshold, whether support answers inside your working day, and whether anyone there has heard of a massage establishment licence.
Pen and paper
Genuinely fine for a one-chair shop with forty regulars. It stops being fine the day you cannot answer “who hasn't been in for six months” or “how many sessions does she have left”.
FingerBooth
If you plan to still be open in five years, you have more than one or two staff, you sell packages or memberships, and you would rather own the thing than rent it — that is the case for us. It has been running in Singapore salons since 2012, syncs across branches, backs up daily, and the people answering the phone are in the same timezone as you.
Finger AI is the assistant going into FingerBooth v2: ask your own numbers a question in plain language, book an appointment by typing it, and get a report that is not on the fixed list. It is a free upgrade for existing users when it ships. If you are comparing on roadmap, that is ours — and it is worth asking everyone else what theirs is, and what it will cost you.
The questions to ask whoever you are talking to
- What is the five-year total, including every outlet and every user?
- What happens to my data, and my access to it, on the day I stop paying?
- Who answers at 8pm on a Saturday, and what does a site visit cost?
- Is there commission on payments taken through the system?
- Can you import my existing client list, and how long does it take?
- Who else in my trade, in Singapore, is running this?
Ask us those six. Ask everyone else the same six. The answers will sort the field faster than any feature grid.
Questions we get asked
Why don't you name the systems you are comparing against?
Because their pricing and features change, and a page that quotes a rival's price wrongly is worse than useless — to you and to them. The categories below are stable; the brands in them are not. Ask us directly about a specific quote you are holding and we will go through it with you line by line.
Is a one-time purchase always cheaper?
No. Over a year or two a subscription can easily be cheaper, and it usually buys you faster feature releases. The one-time purchase wins over a longer horizon — the crossover is typically somewhere around the third year, depending on the monthly figure. Run your own numbers.
What is the honest weakness of FingerBooth?
It is a Singapore product built for Singapore salons by a small company, and that cuts both ways. You get support in your timezone from people who know the trade, and features shaped by local requirements. You do not get the release cadence or the app-store ecosystem of a global platform with hundreds of engineers. If what you want is a long marketplace of integrations, say so early and we will tell you if we are the wrong fit.
Can you import from our current system?
If you can get an Excel export out of it, yes — data acquisition is part of the installation and usually completes within days.
