A POS for beauty and facial salons

Beauty sells courses, not visits. The money arrives months before the work is done, which makes the client record and the package balance the two most important screens in the shop.

A facial treatment in progress

Prepaid is the whole business model

A ten-session facial course paid up front is cash today for work you owe for the next six months. Two things follow. The package balance has to be exactly right, because an argument about how many sessions are left loses a client who has already paid you. And you need to know, at any moment, how much treatment you owe.

The client record is a clinical record

Skin type, sensitivities, what was used last time, what reacted. It belongs where the therapist will actually see it — attached to the booking, not in a drawer. FingerBooth keeps a note against the client and against each appointment.

Beauty salons market harder than most salon trades, which makes the do-not-call rules worth understanding properly. An appointment reminder for a treatment someone has already booked is a service message. A birthday offer is marketing, and marketing has rules. The difference, in plain language.

What comes with it

  • Cashiering — the till itself: services, products, packages, deposits, split payments, receipts.
  • Customer Data Analytics — who is spending, who has lapsed, what they buy.
  • Stock Inventory — retail and back-bar, across branches.
  • Appointment Manager — the calendar your counter actually lives in.
  • Live Sales Tracker — today's takings while the day is still running.
  • Loyalty Program — credit balances, packages and sessions left.
  • Promotions & Birthday — SMS that goes out on its own.
  • Staff Commission & Payroll — commission worked out from what was actually rung up.

What it costs

$2,500Software, per branch. Paid once.
$3,500With hardware — laptop, thermal receipt printer, cash drawer, setup and installation.
about $57/moMaintenance per branch, from year two. $688 a year.

The first year's maintenance is included in the purchase. Big Mouth Marketing is not GST-registered, so the figure you see is the figure you pay. There is currently no grant for FingerBooth.

Questions we get asked

Can we sell a course of treatments and draw it down?

Yes — that is the package model. It is sold once, redeemed session by session, and the balance is visible at the counter and on the client record.

Where do skin notes and contraindications live?

On the client record, visible to whoever opens the booking, so a therapist reads the note about a sensitivity before the client is on the bed rather than after.

Can clients book themselves in?

The Online Booking Form extension puts your calendar on your own site, so a booking lands in the real diary instead of in somebody's inbox.

What does it cost?

$2,500 per branch, paid once, or $3,500 with hardware. $688 per branch per year from year two, which is $688 a year, first year included. No GST.
